Fish Curry ~ Padmaja

Fish curry is cooked in a tangy tamarind sauce with freshly ground spices.This particular dish tastes best the next day after the fish pieces are soaked in the tamarind and spice juices which is served with hot steamed white rice.This is one kind of fish curry i adopted from my friend Padmaja.It takes little more time to make this curry but the final result is so yummy so its worth trying it here goes the receipe...

INGREDIENTS U NEED:
1.Fish - 1kg
2.Onions - 2
3.Tomatoes- 1
4.Green chilli - 4
5.Fenugreek seeds-little
6.Tamarind  extract -2cup
7.Coconut - 1/4cup
8.Saunf - 1tbs
9.Poppy seeds - 1/2tbs
10.Chilli powder - 2tbs
11.Turmeric powder - a pinch
12. Salt-as needed

GRIND 1:
Onions-1/4
Curry leaves - 1string

GRIND 2:
Coconut
saunf
poppy seeds

UTENSIL:
Big bottomed pan

METHOD OF PREPARATION:
  • Heat oil in a pan add mustard and fenugreek seeds ,asafoedia, and curry leaves let it splutter
  • Add onions saute it untill brown
  • Now add grinded no.1,tomatoes,tamarind pulp,chilli powder,turmeric powder,salt let it boil for 10mins
  • Add grinded no.2 and then finally add fish cover and cook on low heat for 5mins,do not stir too much because the fish pieces break and be gentle while stirring the fish pieces
  •  Let the sauce thicken and till the oil seperates or leaves the sides of the vessel and adjust salt and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
GOES WELL WITH:
   Plain rice and Dosa
