Dosa

Dosa is a indian savory pancake made with rice and urad dhal. Dosa is a typical south indians breakfast will normally be either idli , dosa, ven pongal and uppma with chutney or sambar. Occasionally it also includes  methu vada in their regular breakfast .I love any kind of dosa with chutney podi but this is plain dosa here goes the receipe...

INGREDIENTS U NEED:
1.Long grain rice or raw rice - 3cup
2.Parboild rice - 2cup
3.Urad dhal - 1cup
4.Fenugreek seeds- 2tbs
5.Salt-as needed
6.Oil

UTENSIL:
Dosa pan

METHOD OF PREPARATION:
  • Soak the rice and dhal seperately for 6-8hrs and wash them well with water and drain the water
  • Grind the urad dhal and rice separetely to a paste and mix together with little salt and ferment it overnight in the dark place
  • Heat the iron griddle or dosa tawa and pour a spoonful of  batter in the center of tawa and spread with the back of spoon thin around the tawa and pour  little oil over it and flip it to otherside and remove with spatula when crisp and golden brown and serve hot(the thinner the batter is in the tawa the crispier it is).
NOTE:
U can store this batter in the fridge for atleast a week or two.
Some people have difficulty  for the  first few dosas might not come out well but if u keep on making it so often the dosas will come out very well and make sure the pan is hot enough.

GOES WELL WITH:
Peanut chutney, kalai chutney and chicken kurma
