Idly

Idli is a very light and good breakfast to satrt up a day.I know everybody knows how to make idly but this is how i make it soft and delicious .To make idly in a healthier way  use cloth in the idly maker if  u r using cloth  no need to apply oil but it takes more time .If i have time i use cloth if not i just use oil. I remember whenever we visit our grandmother house she makes this idly which is very big and soft u cannot eat more than 3-4 idlies. Even nowadays in our native most of the people do this way with the cloth.  Here goes the receipe....

INGREDIENTS U NEED:
1.Parboild rice-4cup
2.Raw rice-1cup
3.Urad dhal-1cup
4.Salt-as needed
5.Oil-1tbs

UTENSIL:
Idly maker

METHOD OF PREPARATION:
  • First soak the urad dhal and rice seperately for 5-6hours and drain the water
  • Grind urad dhal and rice seperately  
  • Mix both of them together nicely and leave it overnight for fermentation.
  • The next day mix the fluffed up batter gently and add enough salt to it 
  • Grease the idli moulds with little oil
  • Pour the batter in the moulds and steam in the idli cooker for 15-20mins on the medium flame and switch off the gas and  let it cool down  for 5mins.
  • By using spoon run it around the idli moulds and carefully flip them out and serve hot.

    GOES WELL WITH:
         Peanut chutney,Chicken kurma and Sambar
